Director
Fivel Rothberg is a father, media maker, producer, educator and activist who received his MFA in Integrated Media Arts at Hunter College. For the past ten years he has devoted his time to creating and presenting independent media that engages audiences, stimulates dialogue, encourages progressive social change, and bridges cultural divides. He is developing a campaign to use his film as a consciousness-raising tool regarding the intimate subjects it raises, including abuse, fatherhood, masculinity and depression.
Fivel is the Associate Producer for Kelly Anderson’s My Brooklyn project. My Brooklyn looks at the often complex nature of urban real estate development, its history and impact on residents through a documentary film and game-based smart phone walking tour. They recently raised over $20,000 through Kickstarter to help complete post-production on the film.
He is a freelance DP and editor for companies like M.ink Productions and Magic Box and has a long history of media activism and working with organizations such as Scribe Video Center and the Media Mobilizing Project.
Fivel currently teaches at SUNY Old Westbury as an Adjunct Instructor. His courses include “Feminine and Masculine & Film” and “Myths & Images in Film.”
